Head – Client Due Diligence (CDD)
Role Overview
The Head – Client Due Diligence (CDD) is responsible for overseeing end-to-end client onboarding, due diligence, and regulatory verification processes. This role ensures that all clients are onboarded in compliance with applicable regulations, internal risk policies, and industry best practices, while effectively managing fraud, AML, and reputational risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the client onboarding and due diligence framework across the organization.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements prescribed by authorities such as SEBI and RBI, as applicable to the business.
- Oversee KYC, AML, PMLA checks, and enhanced due diligence (EDD) for high-risk clients.
- Approve or escalate high-risk and complex client profiles based on risk assessment.
- Develop, update, and implement CDD/EDD policies, SOPs, and risk-based onboarding procedures.
- Monitor regulatory changes and ensure timely implementation within onboarding processes.
- Coordinate with compliance, legal, risk, sales, and operations teams for smooth onboarding.
- Handle regulatory audits, inspections, and internal reviews related to client due diligence.
- Build and mentor a high-performing due diligence and onboarding team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, or related field
- 8–12+ years of experience in client due diligence, compliance, AML, or risk management
- Strong understanding of KYC, AML, PMLA, and regulatory onboarding requirements
- Proven leadership experience in managing teams and complex client structures
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience in NBFC, fintech, banking, capital markets, or financial services
- Exposure to high-risk client onboarding and regulatory interactions
- Strong documentation, reporting, and audit-handling capabilities
